ELEVATOR PITCH
Studies show that student achievement increases when students have access to quality school buildings. However, most public schools in LA are in dire need of repair.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Substandard school buildings negatively affect student performance. Many schools in LA do not meet even basic standards for health and safety.

Forty-one states provide some form state funding for their school facilities. Louisiana is NOT one of them. In fact, Louisiana ranks the forth lowest among all states in terms of overall funding for public school facilities. We must do better.

We must take the first step in providing the appropriate facilities to our children, so they have the tools to succeed. During the current legislative session (2009), the legislature is considering SB 90 and HB 689 to establish the Statewide School Facilities Authority and Fund to help local school districts repair, modernize, and construct schools. This funding would provide much needed assistance and would create an incentive for districts to raise local funds for school facilities.

Email the Governor today and tell him you support HB 90 and SB 698. Also, contact your Senator and Representative.
